{"id":57,"date":"2013-03-22T12:41:00","date_gmt":"2013-03-22T19:41:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.schafenfreude.com\/?p=57"},"modified":"2013-11-11T09:06:40","modified_gmt":"2013-11-11T17:06:40","slug":"hello-handsome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.schafenfreude.com\/?p=57","title":{"rendered":"Hello, handsome!"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>Color is often the answer to life&#8217;s problems. \u00a0And, it can make something otherwise dull and boring into a rich and compelling gem. \u00a0Enter the M&#8217;s and O&#8217;s fabric with my boring mill ends.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>I went ahead and used the end of the warp to make one final set of samples. \u00a0Sett at 36epi, beaten square and a full range of color combinations. \u00a0The two pieces on the left are for overdyeing, the one on the right will be the control sample.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-FaKzOGnqccc\/UUyxUhNjDFI\/AAAAAAAACpw\/39XiITJWk2s\/s1600\/IMG_2541.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-FaKzOGnqccc\/UUyxUhNjDFI\/AAAAAAAACpw\/39XiITJWk2s\/s320\/IMG_2541.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>I decided to make two colors &#8211; one a deep but rich red that I developed over the summer and the other a magenta\/wine color. \u00a0In either case, I wanted something that would be rich and appealing in the colder months. \u00a0I&#8217;ve been thinking of this as a &#8220;Spring&#8221; vest, but since the last day of winter was only yesterday, I&#8217;ve reverted to winter colors. \u00a0And now, the result:<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Y5MXGATT_6Y\/UUyxWZ4RDUI\/AAAAAAAACqY\/VpLwInSJ2yk\/s1600\/IMG_2549.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/4.bp.blogspot.com\/-Y5MXGATT_6Y\/UUyxWZ4RDUI\/AAAAAAAACqY\/VpLwInSJ2yk\/s320\/IMG_2549.jpg\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Yeah. \u00a0Wow. \u00a0Really, really wow. \u00a0There&#8217;s now a lovely texture to the fabric that didn&#8217;t exist before and the size of the medallion is, in my opinion, no longer an issue. \u00a0Both colors are absolutely amazing, but that red keeps calling to me.<\/p>\n<div><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-vnA36RfaDCk\/UUyxWx2FyrI\/AAAAAAAACqg\/ZDJogpXwIUo\/s1600\/IMG_2550.JPG\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-vnA36RfaDCk\/UUyxWx2FyrI\/AAAAAAAACqg\/ZDJogpXwIUo\/s320\/IMG_2550.JPG\" width=\"320\" height=\"240\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>And here you can see the different yarns\/weaves interacting. \u00a0The color looks quite true on my monitor (even the magenta in the corner) and I really love the texture. \u00a0I&#8217;m happy enough with this that I&#8217;ll go ahead and measure\/wind off a warp and weave off enough fabric to make the vest. \u00a0That really puts the hammer down on making the sample as I&#8217;m not sure that I&#8217;m happy with how high it rides in the back. \u00a0It stops at my actual waist, but I think I&#8217;m going to nudge it down just a bit so that it extends slightly below my waist. \u00a0Easy enough to do and that won&#8217;t hold up the weaving.<\/p>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>And yes, I&#8217;ve written down the dye formula. \u00a0I just hope that I can get as good coverage when I&#8217;m dyeing yardage rather than a small swatch. \u00a0It&#8217;ll mean getting out the big pot but I certainly think it&#8217;ll be worth it.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>So Sara &#8211; how do you like that red? \u00a0:-)<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Color is often the answer to life&#8217;s problems. \u00a0And, it can make something otherwise dull and boring into a rich and compelling gem. \u00a0Enter the M&#8217;s and O&#8217;s fabric with my boring mill ends.
